LeBron, Durant, and Curry Confirmed for 2024 Olympic Team Following Impressive FIBA World Cup Performances

Jake Fischer returns from Manila to join Dan Devine in Brooklyn to discuss the NBA’s new rule prohibiting clubs from resting their stars, the outcomes of the FIBA World Cup, and LeBron James’ attempt to assemble a squad of superstars to compete in the Olympics in 2024.

Jake returns from Manila with a cold (but no sleeves) to discuss with Dan about everything that has transpired in the NBA in the last week on this episode of No Cap Room.

They begin with some shocking news: the NBA’s Competition Committee has agreed to implement new regulations that would penalize teams for resting too many superstar players. Although there are exclusions that allow elite players to continue to rest, Dan believes that this approach will make the NBA more appealing to gamblers.

Jake and Dan also discuss the FIBA World Cup, including what Team USA can learn from Germany (who won gold) and how Canada’s performance (who won bronze) bodes well for both Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Dillon Brooks.

Finally, following Team USA’s failure to medal at the FIBA World Cup, LeBron James confirmed his intention to return to Team USA for the 2024 Olympics in France. He also revealed that he had gone out to Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, Draymond Green, and a slew of other veteran players in an effort to entice them to join him. Will that be enough for the United States to continue to win gold at the Olympics, or has this bunch of talents peaked?
